“Starting and Growing a Fair Trade Business” Workshop – October 1, 2009
On Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 7pm to 9pm Fair Trade LA hosted a workshop to help people learn how to “Make Your Holiday Faire More Fair.” This event was held at St. Cross Episcopal Church, 1818 Monterey Blvd., Hermosa Beach.
Questions addressed included: What is Fair Trade? What is the full range of FT products available? How can Fair Trade merchants satisfy themselves that the goods from wholesalers are Fair Trade? What economic models and start-up advice are available for you to become a retailer?
Presenters wer: Jackie DeCarlo, author of “Fair Trade: A Beginner’s Guide,” and Senior Fair Trade Program Advisor for Catholic Relief Services; David Funkhouser, TransFair USA, Strategic Relations Manager, and Phil Fehrle, FTLA member and owner of FairTrade Express

Celebration of Fair Trade Month Forum on October 4, 2009
Jacqueline DeCarlo, Catholic Relief Services Fair Trade Advisor, was the keynote speaker at a workshop on Fair Trade and how to develop a fair trade program for your community. Other presenters spoke about hosting a fair trade sale. Vendors displayed their fair trade products.
The event was held at Holy Family Church, St. Joseph Center, 1524 Fremont Ave., South Pasadena and sponsored by Holy Family Church Fair Trade Ministry. For more information, visit www.holyfamily.org.

On Thursday, September 17, 2009 Fair Trade LA hosted a workshop to help your group learn how to “Make Your Holiday Faire More Fair.” This event was held at St. Monica Auditorium, 725 California Ave, Santa Monica.
Those who attended learned about Fair Trade and global solidarity; heard from experts how to host a holiday faire with Fair Trade items; met Fair Trade vendors and learned how they can help their faire – and bought fair trade products. They learned about the importance of supporting Fair Trade while buying wonderful products.
